Dr. Drew Responds to Miley Controversy

Celebrity doctor Drew Pinsky has, of course, decided to put in his two cents regarding the controversial video in which Miley Cyrus allegedly smokes salvia from a bong.

Here's what Dr. Drew had to say:

We know that she?s going to be acting out now because her family?s in trouble, so it?s not unusual to see depression manifesting as various kinds of acting out behaviors. Adolescents don?t get depressed the way adults do. They don?t get sad and cry and withdraw. They often act out and become irritable, they act out with drugs and? get in trouble and she seems to be suffering.

It?s a very powerful hallucinogen. It grows along the freeways here in Southern California. They make a powder out of it, they smoke it, they make tea out of it. The smoking causes a very intense hallucinatory high. It lasts just a few minutes and they?re very bizarre many times, too.

If I had a child that was doing that or if I was advising a parent, I would say get professional help immediately. This cat is out of the bag. This is a child who is in trouble and who is suffering and this is her way of trying to manage that. Get professional help.

He brings up some good points, although making them so publicly kind of undermines his authority, don't you think?

Brandon Smith "Skaing" No More

We previously reported that Brandon Smith of "Sonny With a Chance" was rushed to the hospital during rehearsals for "Skating with the Stars" after experiencing stomach pains and breathing difficulties.

Well, it turns out that was a stomach virus and Brandon was able to return to rehearsals. However, he has since pulled himself from the show, stating he is still sick and he does not want to put his partner or anyone else on the show at risk.

So sad, but probably for the best. That show is tanking anyways!

Miley Cyrus One of iTunes Best-Selling Artists of 2010

iTunes has released its list of the 99 best-selling songs of the 2010. And while the top ten is comprised of what you would expect (Train's "Soul Sister" at #1, Katy Perry's "California Girls" at #2, etc.) Miley Cyrus, who had a disappointing year musically, had three songs on the list!

At #60 is her signature song, "Party in the U.S.A."

At #70 is "When I Look At You", while "Can't Be Tamed" came in at #75.

Pretty impressive that those songs, especially "Party in the U.S.A.", ALL managed to make it into the top 99.

Vanessa Hudges Doing Good After Break-up

Vanessa Hudgens isn't letting her recent break from Zac Efron keep her down! The actress celebrated her 22nd birthday at Las Vegas's Pure Nightclub (Ashley Tisdale and Brittany Snow were spotted at the party, and Zac did not attend) and took a moment to explain her mindset:

[Zac and I are] good. I worked a lot in 2009. I did two movies back to back, so this year I just hung out, took it easy, did a play which was a lot of fun, did a movie and now the year is coming to an end before I know it. It's going to be a very, very busy year. I have three movies coming out in the next year, so I'm excited to see what the future is going to hold.

Billy Ray and Tish Put Home on Market

Nearly two months after announcing their divorce, Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus have put their Toluca Lake home on the market.

However, sources say that three months ago, Tish was already eying a smaller Encino home for $4.6 million. Very interesting!

Zac Moving On Already?

Although he just split from girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens, it seems like Zac Efron may have already found a new romantic interest!

Sources are saying that Zac has gotten "chummy" with his 26-year-old The Lucky One costar Taylor Schilling while filming in New Orleans. A source continues, "They joke around, eat together sometimes, run lines. Nothing out of the ordinary."

The source insists that the actors are "just friends", but we all know how that usually works out!

Meanwhile, Zac has also been getting close with the cast of Twilight, particularly Kellan Lutz, who are also in New Orleans filming the latest installment of the vampire franchise.

Sources close to Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are claiming that the couple is bound to get back together soon! Despite rumors that Zac is already moving on with The Lucky One costar Taylor Schilling, his pals insist that he and Vanessa still "speak every single day."

The sources explain that "they wanted some free time, but they'll get back together." Apparently, it was Vanessa who wanted the space to date other people "before locking in for life with Zac."

While we still think Zac deserves so much better than Vanessa, we do really like them as a couple and hope that they are on the mend!

Demi Settles with Dancer

Demi Lovato and back-up dancer Alex Welch have reached a financial settlement of an undisclosed amount following an altercation that allegedly took place in October.

If you don't remember, Demi attacked Alex while boarding a plane during the Camp Rock tour because she was convinced Alex told tour managers about her bad behavior. The fight was the straw that broke the camels back and Demi was soon committed to a rehabilitation center for physical and emotional issues.

Alex's lawyer Donald Karpel released a statement saying, "The parties are satisfied and the dispute has been resolved amicably and completely."

Good to hear that Demi can put this mess behind her and focus on getting better!

Demi Spent Holidays with Family

Contrary to previous reports, Demi Lovato did not spend Christmas in the treatment center at which she's been staying since November 1. The actress/singer was able to leave the facility to spend the holiday with her family. She returned to the center shortly after.

It's good to hear that she was able to spend time with her family but we're glad she is going back to continue treatment.

Miley's Poor Sales Due to Illegal Downloads?

Miley Cyrus' Can't Be Tamed debuted earlier this year to disappointing numbers, selling only about 107,000 copies in its first week and becoming the star's only album to not peak at #1 on the Billboard 200.

Well could those sales have been due to illegal downloads? Obviously that's not the only reason, but it seems like it was definitely a notable factor.

According to iLeaks, a website that leaks music for free, Can't Be Tamed was their fifth-most illegally downloaded album, while the title track and lead single was the eighth-most illegally downloaded song. The song's accompanying music video was the seventh-most illegally downloaded video. Altogether, Miley was the tenth-most artist whose material was illegally downloaded from the website.

Footage from Demi's Day Out

As previously reported, Demi Lovato was able to leave rehab for a few hours on Christmas day to spend time with her family. Naturally, the paparazzi was there to capture Demi's first public sighting in almost two months.

Demi and her family went to see a movie and then she returned to rehab shortly after. We're glad she was able to see her family! Now we can only hope for a speedy recovery.

Miley's Salvia Bong Isn't For Sale

Supposedly Miley Cyrus has some stoner fans who want to get their hands on the infamous salvia bong Miley was smoking out of in that video. According to reports, the guy who owns the bong refuses to sell it because it has "sentimental value" to him, despite some pressure from his friends to cash in on the opportunity and make a couple grand at least.

Perhaps the bong will end up in a "Disney Stars Gone Wrong" museum in the future. Imagine the fun a museum chronicling the turbulent private lives of Miley, Demi Lovato, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Vanessa Hudgens, Adrienne Bailon, Shia LaBeouf, Cody Linely, and more would be!

Ooo la la! This "we're just friends" romance is heating up!

Justin Bieber reportedly checked into the Gansevoort Hotel in Miami under the name Chandler Bing. Sound familiar? It should! Chandler Bing is the name of the Matthew Perry character from "Friends".

But that's not even the exciting part of this story. No, the exciting part is that Justin apparently had some company at his hotel room... Selena Gomez!

The tween pop star ordered room service on December 18 at around 1 AM and when hotel staff came to deliver his food, they found Justin and Selena locked outside of Justin's suite.

Come on, you two! You're killing us! We all know you're dating, so just come right out and say it!

Demi Lovato Solo Tour

As most of you know, Demi Lovato has been and is still currently in rehab, doing better each day. Many people are concerned that she might not still be on track to go on her solo tour in 2011, but Demi Lovato said that she IS still going on her tour in 2011 to promote her 3rd album!
